New Podcast Interview with Mr. Kelly Carrington, Canada's FIrst Male Doula.
"Supported is best," it's one of the foundations for Successful Breastfeeding, and Mr. Kelly Carrington, ManDoula, also reveals it's one of the most critical pieces of birth and postpartum as well.
"Honey, can you get me a Green Popsicle??" If you are a brand new mom or a new mom again, this is a question you may want to ask your partner when people start visiting your new addition. If you think I might've lost it and have no clue what the heck I am getting at, you need to listen to our latest Successful Breastfeeding Podcast. In this most recent episode, our Kelly had a chance to talk to Mr. Kelly Carrington, the Mandoula.
Mr. Kelly Carrington is the loving husband to his high school sweetheart, father to 3 boys. He has been a registered massage therapist for 18 years, Mandoula for almost seven years, a greenhouse gardener, snowboarder, canoeist, and general outdoor regular guy who just so happens to help people have babies!
Mr. Kelly Carrington is known as Canada's first male doula, coming from the world of massage therapy, he wanted to bridge the gap between his pregnant clients from pre-baby through post-baby support, specifically in the birth process. One of his goals as a doula is to make sure his families know that they can express their choices and have an understanding that they don't need permission to make those choices. When people know more, they will do better. Mr. Carrington shares his ideas for how we can transform the postpartum space with one, simple concept.
Postpartum looks different for every family, but one thing is the same for all. You started with one (or multiple) less baby(ies) than you finished with. First, you were two, and now you are three, and for first time parents, everyone around you was your family, but after your baby arrives, YOU are the family, and everyone else is a RELATIVE. This part of postpartum, the boundaries part, this is where the green popsicle line will come in handy.
Along with answering some questions from our mamas in our Facebook Community, Mr. Kelly Carrington shares a few more tips that could totally change your experience in the days leading up to and following your baby's birth. I sure do wish he was on my birth team! Even so, I hope future mamas or veteran mamas with upcoming deliveries take a little something from this podcast to make their birth experience THAT much better!
While Mr. Kelly doesn't do social media, you can find him here on his Massage page: Evolution Massage
